Laundry Day

The Missus is always complaining that I have too many stuffed toys - and that they all stink of my drool. What a cheek - I think they smell heavenly!

Anyway, I eventually took the hint and decided to do a bit of spring cleaning.

Here're all my buddies, ready for the 'bathtub'...

...and voila! Here they all are 'squeaky' clean.

Can you guess which is my favourite toy?

Yep, my beloved football(s).

I love to lie for hours with one stuffed in my mouth. Sometimes I actually fall asleep this way!

Happy Valentine's Day 2012

You might recall from my last blog, that my humans are currently away on holiday. Missus has helped me to set this up as a posting which automatically gets published on Valentine's Day. [Missus - I hope this works!]

Hopefully, when you read this, I'll still be surrounded by a bevy of booti-ful doggy girls! :) Maybe one of them will even win my heart. After all, how could they resist me with poses like these...

My dewy-eyed look...

... My come-hither look...

... and just plain old 'ME'. Booti-ful!

I wish you all a LOVEly Valentine's Day.

Safari

As I write this, my humans have already placed me with a dog-sitter and I'm surrounded by booti-ful doggy girls. (Hopefully, I'll be able to tell you all about this later).

The reason I'm not at home, is that my humans are jetting off on holiday again today. They are going to a place called Tanzania which, apparently, is in Africa. You may remember that they have already been there once before, a couple of years ago. (See the Missus' posts here, here, here, here and here).

I can't believe that they are leaving me again so soon. It was only in September last year that they visited the Okavango Delta in Bostwana. [Missus - Sorry I haven't blogged about this already - too many darn pictures!]

Anyway, as my humans were packing last night, I decided to get into the safari mood with them...

Don't I look like George Adamson or Dereck Joubert?

I hope they have a great time. (But I hope they get back soon and I hope they don't fall in love with any other 'animals' out there. You know how jealous I can be!).

I'm sure that Missus will sabotage my blog to tell you all about their trip to the Serengeti when she returns.

Bon voyage Missus and Dad.

Gone But Not Forgotten

Although I always try to be a happy boy, this has been a tough week for me to keep up my spirits. It seems like the days have been filled with bad news.

First, I got word about the passing of dear 'The Bleu'. Following a brave battle against cancer, he finally decided to go and join his beloved brother 'The Luke'.

The Bleu

11 November 2002 to 26 January 2012

I hope you have fun with your bro forever.

..............................

No sooner had that news sunk in than I learnt that my dear friend Maggie had left us.

Maggie

10 July 1998 to 28 January 2012

Over the years, I've come to know Maggie (and Mitch) so well through following their wonderful blog. In turn, they have always been supportive of my blog - leaving the kindest of comments every time I have posted.

..............................

Finally, I received the saddening news that my namesake, Homer, had also crossed over the rainbow bridge.

Homer

November 2007 to 31 January 2012

Homer, and the rest of his pack from the Bumpass Hounds, have also become firm favourites of mine in the blogosphere. I can still remember the day when he first commented on one of my blogs and introduced himself. I couldn't believe that there was another 'Homer the Golden Retriever' out there! Ever since then, I have followed Homer and his family's adventures with relish.

So sad, and yet so many happy memories to hang on to. I will miss you The Bleu, Maggie and Homer with all of my heart.

Run wild and run free dear friends.

Love, Homer
